Detailed Description
This course has been designed for delegates at all levels of experience and involvement with hospitalised small animal patients. Whether you are actively involved with the implementation and provision of physiotherapy techniques, or are less familiar and wish to learn more, this course is perfect for you. We appreciate that knowing how and when to initiate supportive physiotherapy techniques can be a little daunting or confusing at times, and we aim to change that. We recognise that budgets for purchasing additional equipment in practice can be limited, so we will focus on what you can do with what you already have! The ultimate goal of this course is to assist the veterinary team in delivering the highest standard of care to their patients and maximising patient outcomes.
The day will consist of a blend of theoretical, classroom-based learning alongside hands on practical experience in our physiotherapy facilities, putting theory into practice. This course will cover the indications and applications of:
- Thermotherapies
- Respiratory techniques
- Manual therapies
- Facilitated movements
- Working with your veterinary physiotherapist
By the end of the course, delegates should be able to:
- Recognise the benefits of physiotherapy techniques in small animals
- Identify indications for the inclusion of physiotherapy techniques into veterinary care of the hospitalised patient
- Conduct basic physiotherapy techniques.
- Support your students with completing the practical physiotherapy aspects of their studies.
- Understand the role of the veterinary physiotherapist, and how to work with them as part of the multidisciplinary patient care team
