Detailed Description

This four-week course will provide you with knowledge and understanding of the key principles of healthy eating, exploring the links between nutrition, health and wellbeing. We will consider healthy eating guidelines and provide an opportunity for learners to reflect on their own diet and wellbeing. In addition, by reviewing contemporary matters such as allergies and food labelling, the course provides learners with the ability to identify healthier options for themselves and their families.

Who should attend this course?

Anyone interested in learning more about food and nutrition, including: 

  • Learning more about the principles of healthy eating and the role of food in maintaining health
  • Understanding how to plan and achieve a healthy diet
  • General interest in what your body's fuel needs are and how dietary requirements change over time
  • Understanding food labelling and how to use the information from food labels
  • Wanting to make better food choices in a busy world, and feel more in control of your diet
  • Increase understanding of the role of a healthy diet, nutrition and exercise in relation to weight management
  • Mythbusting the role of carbs, fats, protein and labels
